Hi, my girl was mated 4 weeks ago and scanned yesterday with at least 3 pups :-) obviously im delighted especially as this was a (well planned) last minute mating as she came into season 2 months early so was a bit of a gamble!

I was unable to be at the scan but the vet commented that he thought the pups were very early in development, he guessed 3 weeks. I know sperm is viable up to 7 days but she was idexx tested and was bang on ovulation when she was mated..... Would this be normal? Due to shows we only had 1 mating so wouldn't be because of a second mating.

Her last litter was a bit of nightmare (suspected herpes) so am naturally a little on edge and desperately want a puppy from this mating. She has had the CHV this time.

Should I scan again in a few weeks to check everything is progressing normally?
