My girl missed last time, very much wanted/planned/tested for litter. She was mated again 25 days ago again with Idexx progesterone tests. Had two succesful matings 48hours apart of at least a 25min tie. The first week after mating she came down with a bit of an upset stomach which was succesfully treated with some Kanikur and a bland diet although for a few days she didnt want to eat much. A couple of days after mating she had a bit of a very pale yellow/white stringy discharge on a couple of occasions which didnt smell or have anything nasty looking about it so I kept an eye and it disappeared quickly. I thought perhaps the 'by products of mating' ;) rather than cystitis (no increased weeing) no blood or bad smell.
In the last three days so days 23/24/25 she has walked away from every meal time. Literally sniffed the bowl and walked away. My lot are fed all together and they normally clear the bowls in a few minutes so this is really unusual for her not to even eat anything at all, she is starting to lose weight. She isnt drinking any more than normal, she seems quiet but will still play and walk around with nylabones in her mouth and is toileting absolutely fine. However she appears to have a discharge again. Sorry if TMI but she is getting a blob of it on the end of her vulva and it drips occasionally. Its a pale pale yellow/opaque a bit like egg white and stringy, doesnt smell, no blood. Im worried about a pyo due to this as I thought that they only got a discharge much nearer the end if pregnant. I nearly lost my first dog nearly 20 years ago aged 7 to a pyo when I didnt know the symptoms and so perhaps Im a bit paranoid. She doesnt look any different to how she does normally, perhaps a bit thinner due to not eating. She isnt 'praying' or looking unwell. She is also weeing normally, so dont think its a UTI as she has had a couple of those as a pup and she spends ages weeing little drops and the discharge then smells awful. I thought she would at least look a bit more filled out by now if pregnant or her nipples might have changed?
Can they scan her this early to see if its pups or pyo? My mentor is currently away competing abroad so its not as if I can ring her at the moment either :( Ive got a vets appointment at 6.10pm tonight but would value people's thoughts.

My friend had similar symptoms and the lady vet she saw was adamant it was early Pyo and she should spay her right away!!!
Went to different vet (breeder sympathetic) who said it could easily be signs of early pregnancy and certainly more likely in a mated maiden bitch (stud also maiden) than Pyo which usually occurs somewhat later (abut 6 weeks after season) inappetence is also common at the implantation stage (second trimester).
They put her on Safe AB's and later after 35 days confirmed a healthy pregnancy and she whelped 5 pups.

Always worth checking at the vet, and I'm neither a vet or an expert breeder. But in my small experience, the slight discharge you describe is often a sign of pregnancy, as is the loss of appetite. Hopefully the vet will confirm nothing is badly wrong, in which case you can try tempting her with some tastier food - a bit of pampering never hurt anyone!
Not long back from the vets, its a vet hospital and saw my favourite tame vet. She was checked all over, no temp which is obviously good, heart/chest all fine. She said that her discharge looked like a normal pregnancy one as it was clear/egg white slightly opaque, confirmed no blood/bad smell. The vet suggested that she was scanned as it would give an indication whether she was pregnant or if she was heading for a pyo, something to do with the density of infection on the ultrasound.
So we took her into the scanning room and within about 20 seconds I could see lots of black holes appear with little beans inside! Having had her scanned when she missed I could tell straight away how different it was. They did the blood flow setting on the scanner and each little hole was seen to have a heart beat. No signs of any infection/abnormalities and at least 7 little holes were seen although that isnt a final count as she was panting etc
I realise that an awful lot can happen between now and 63 days time, we still might not end up with any pups, however at the moment there is no pyo, we have live pups as of now and I can try and tempt her with other foods rather than thinking she was coming down with something.
I cant tell you how relieved I am as she missed last time.
Sounds like my girls first pregnacy. She had an early scan after having the same symptoms as yours and went on to have 8 puppies. Good luck
Glad to read it sounds like good news ahead ..... fingers crossed it all goes smoothly from now on x

Ooh how exciting! Hope all goes smoothly and you find something tasty for her to eat. :-)

Came on too late to offer advice, but thought it was a normal pregnancy, so
Congratulations!
So pleased for you its not pyo. Its something i check for after a mating. My scanner can pick it up. Here's to a good pregnancy.
Thank you everyone, all fingers and paws crossed here that everything goes well from now.
I know this is question has now been answered and a happy outcome however I just thought I'd make a comment for future ref. my girl developed pyo 2 weeks after mating. Luckily we caught this but she was spayed and we never got a litter from her. It's hard to decide when a bitch is just in the sulky pregnant mode and when it's serious so please never leave a bitch showing any signs of being unwell. Check with the vet it can save her life.
