Ive just booked river in for her first booster, and when I asked the receptionist the cost, was told Fifty pounds and a bit-is that expensive?I m sure Gwens was only 20 something, less than a year ago!Queried it with my friend who pays 25pounds ish.Not much I can do as its the only vet I can get to,just wondered if I was being stung!

Does that include kennel cough? I'd say £50-ish is definitely on the steep side - I'd reckon more like £30 is average for annual check and booster.

Pretty sure my youngster's booster a couple of weeks ago was just under £29 (not including kennel cough thing). Do you think the receptionist misunderstood and gave you a price for two sets of initial injections? (I'm being charitable here!) I'd query it :-D

Gosh yes that seems very steep, surely must be a mix up as the others have said. My youngster is due his first booster soon and it's £28.

Expensive just for a booster :( I only paid £36 for the 2 part puppy course.

One of the major vet practices here in Bristol charges £35 per jab so £70 for puppy course but £35 for Booster.

Mine was £60 which did rather startle me, I thought things were supposed to be cheaper in the country and I'm sure we only paid £45 in London, though that was 2 years ago now. :-(

Just checked the bill for my two last September - £91.10 ! We're going to our new vet on Thursday for their boosters so it will be interesting what he charges - going by his bill for Bramble's tests back at the beginning of this year I am expecting it to be cheaper :) We're in a rural area too.

JG - the £91.10 didn't include KC :(

I've just had mine boostered for £15 each and puppy jabs £25 for both. None had the Kennel cough but it was £5 if I wanted it.

Well,I gasped"for a booster?"-it just came out!and she said"yes"calmly,I ll harbour a fond hope that shes made a mistake,but I know my luck!
She didnt mention kennel cough.

Very glad I don't give boosters anymore!
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 18.09.12 18:35 UTC Edited 18.09.12 18:39 UTC
We do boosters (DHP and/or L) for a few pence over £33. KC is extra, but less if done at the same time rather than later on. At the prices you've been quoted I'd be tempted to phone around and see if there's a vaccination clinic nearby (a practice that ony does routine vaccinations, not surgery) - there are quite a few around and you're perfectly within your rights to use them for vax and your usual practice for anything else.

Yikes! Mine at least did include the KC. :-) I shall enquire about vaccination clinics, will they be regular vets or is it a Yellow Pages or Google job?

Me, too ! Must have saved a fortune over the last 16 years - and had two healthy dogs in the process !

Its the first and last for River, too, although the vet was informing me of changes being made all the time, when I queried lepto, she said immunity now lasts for between 9 and 15 months, has anyone else heard this? I was only charged £33 something after all,so the lady I spoke to on the phone mustve made a mistake, despite my strangled cry of"for a booster?!!!"

Nobivac's Lepto 2 data sheet states at least 12 months.

> I was only charged £33 something after all

New vets this afternoon charged £78 for two dogs, so better than previous vet :) After much discussion, had 14 year old Bramble boostered but this will be the last time even if he is as fit next year. He'll only be going in kennels for the odd weekend this next year and then we'll just have to stay home :) :)
