My pup is teething badly, we have piles of toys but he prefers my slippers and cushions naturally. Can anyone recommend any tried and tested toys for this period? I think i remember reading here about some sort of frozen, just washed tea towel being brilliant!!

Yes cheap/old Tea Towels rolled up length ways and knotted top and bottom, dampened under the tap, wrung out and placed in the freezer till stiff, I find 3 works well in rotation, then given to dog till it has gone warm and limp and then swapped.

Brilliant, I'm so glad you knew about that I thought people might think i was mad asking about tea towels in the freezer ;) Thanks!

I found frozen carrots worked well with ours, but as pups they are too small to bite chunks off ;)

I also bought a pet stages toy that you put in the freezer, it doesn't freeze but gets very cold and I'm thinking it will be even more useful in a couple of weeks.  I also put the deer antlers that you can buy in the freezer that works well also.

We like frozen tea towels too :-D Antler! They're great for teething ... https://www.antlerdogchews.co.uk/index.php?route=product/product&path=43&product_id=143 do puppy sized antlers, basically the tips or a good ol' bone ... if you're lucky enough to have a local butcher who will let you have one.

Nylabones are also good ... my pups have always found the normal ones a bit boring, but have enjoyed these: [url=]http://www.vetuk.co.uk/dog-toys-nylabones-c-439_695/marrow-bone-adult-dog-chew-p-3837[url=]... most of them say I can forget trying to fob them off the with puppy nylabone. If you've got a big dog who can have a good chomp on the ends to start it off the better :-D

Course, a truly devoted owner would just let puppy chomp on the slippers!! ;-)

None of my dogs will chew the antlers!!!

What?!! :-O

Think it's gonna have to be the slippers then :-(

Bonjela Cool was what I have always used but do not use anything else as they have changed the ingredients on the others and they are not safe to use. I had an aussie who teethed with a lot of pain and when he started chewing I used to rub that on the chums and it really worked.

I used to give Roxy ice cubes - she still thinks they are a big treat!  And she had a rope tuggy that she chewed too.

Inka have you tried soaking them first, I read it on here and tried it and she definatly liked the soaked one better now she will have a go on any but if you leave your Argos book on the table while you go out for an hour that's good too NOT lol I'm hoping for wrapped poo over the next few days if she actually ate any of it that is,  I was out buying cheap tea towels for HER as well not a lovely jolly for myself even.

We used, soaked flannels, knotted and frozen, nylabone teething ring, frozen carrots, kongs with frozen filling, bleached bones with frozen filling. Think that's about it!

Just so I get this right, is she too young at 13weeks to have a bone, if not which/what do I ask for at the butchers or where ever
