Hi, we recently became the owners of a large cross breed dog, the dog is about 10 months old, and seems great around the house (house trained, and does not chew furniture etc) however he has not been trained in other areas yet, we are currently trying to teach him to sit and to lie down.
We have only had the dog for about 3 weeks, and we saw how he reacted to another dog only recently, we went to my sisters house, they have an alsation, and although my mum beleives that our dog only wanted to play, they kept squaring up to each other, and it seemed as though it was only a matter of time before something nasty happened.
A key point that came from this, was that when we told our dog to lie down or to clam down he did not list at all.
We are looking for a dog class in the bristol (preferably Yate/Chipping Sodbury) area, that is ok with us bringing an older dog. I would like to know what the costs are, and when the classes are.
We want to take the dog to these classes, one so that we can learn how to control a large dog like this, especially in areas outside our home, and we also want the dog to become used to being in the company of other dogs.
Sorry for the 'essay' and thanx for any help
Dannielle.
