I am going to start giving my pups some food this weekend they will be just over 3 weeks old.  I am going to feed JAmes Wellbeloved ground up and soaked in warm water. I have read that people also add puppy milk replacer but my question is can I add goats milk, mum has been having goats milk since whelping and I thought it better they had the same.  Mum is also on JWB

I always wean my pups on Puppy Eukanuba mixed into a porridge with goats milk.

Yes, mine have always liked goats milk, in fact my old boy used to jump into the puppy pen to drink it if I left a bowl in there!

Nutrolac puppy milk is made from Goats Milk so may be a practical/more economic alternative to buying in and keeping fresh goats milk, but you can also get UHT Goats milk now.

you can also get sacks of ewe milk which is similar to goats milk (ie not the same as dairy) in dried form - from agricultural shops, our local one sells it to dog breeders all year round.  It's much more reasonable than buying fresh or UHT goats milk.  Depending on the size of the bitch you can save a lot - when Sophie was drinking gallons it was a big saving :-)  I have had litters though that didn't like milk.... preferred 'mothers' they said

I wouldn't know where to find an agricultural shop, can you buy it online?

expensive I'd have thought, look up in yellow pages....

Ive weaned onto tripe and beef mince with goats milk to drink, did offer soaked kibble but they are not interested. 5 weeks now and thriving still having from mum too, I will have to force nibble upon them soon as i doubt many owners will feed pugs raw but they will leave with half and half.

It's the reason I start mine off on kibble knowing that is what is most likely to be fed later.

I have never had a pup turn it's nose up at tripe or other meat later, but will continue to eat the kibble they were started on.
