I don't know if I'm allowed to use shop names so bare with me.  I bought my goldie puppy a harness size small from large pet store, I made the mistake of not having her with me needless to say it was too big.  I took it back with her with me and with the help of shop ass we tried lots and all too big but ex small too small.  The only one that fit was called a control harness (shops own make) and it was size medium.  Well I've taken her out 3 times in it and I'm just not happy with it or confident with it.  Has anybody else used ths kind.

I haven't used this kind or ever bought a harness from a pet store so can't say if that one you've got is any good or not.  When Goldie pup first started going out we bought a Red Dingo harness online which was perfect-good quality and adjustable.  She wore this until she grew out of it and we bought an identical one in the larger size! Not very original I know.  Anyhow she still uses this harness at training etc so it has lasted a long time and we've been happy with the fit, support etc.  She now just walks on her collar but a harness was good for when she was little.

I have always used Lupine Harnesses, they come in 2 styles these days, I like them because for by them working with my dogs they will replace them regardless of how any damage occurred.

Whilst away on a stud visit I crated my 2 girls together and left their harnesses on during the day to make toilet breaks etc. easier, one girl nearly chewed through the others harness, luckily I spotted it, Lupine replaced the harness and even sourced the same pattern as the harnesses matched and that one was no longer in production, no questions asked.

Not all harnesses suit all breeds but most online stores will have a returns policy.

I have used the control harness and I like it, nice and sturdy.  PITA to adjust mind you!

I use different kinds with my lot - most are on Walk'r'cise, basic walking harnesses because they are cheap but very sturdy and fit well, with an adjustable chest strap so they don't come up too tight behind the armpits.

Do the harnesses help with pulling,Nikita?And if so,where do you buy them,please?and hows phoebe?

I have a harness (no idea of make as a friend gave it to me) for one of mine that I can't let off lead. My arms are longer than they were before :-) It hasn't stopped her pulling at all, it only stops her breaking her neck when she lunges ahead, or turns quickly. :-(

I must admit though that I look at sled dogs and think, well, what do you expect? Sled dogs wear harnesses to help them pull...... ;-)

They're just a basic walking harness so no anti-pull as such.  I do have a couple of harnesses for that purpose though, based on this:

Phoebe has that actual harness but with an extra ring sewn on the front, that way I can use it similarly to the halti harness (or indeed the PAH control harness!) with the front ring taking the edge off any pulling and giving me more control/steering.  Linc has one of the same basic design, but homemade and fleece padded.

ETA: I find that design useful as the dog can be taught that a lead on the front means walk sensibly, and a lead on the back means you've got some freedom :-)

Phoebe's doing ok, thanks for asking :-)

I haven't used a "control harness", but my puppy is doing very well with a harness from http://dog-games-shop.co.uk/harnesses-fleece-lined.  The straps are wide, and the fleece lining doesn't chafe or cut his tender skin.  Hope this helps.

My friend makes both 'control' harnesses and 'Sport' type ones, they are superb quality and made of comfortable fleece and webbing. Lovely products. Shes only on Facebook at the moment, the link to her page is here if you are on facebook;
