I have a bitch who is now just over 5 weeks in whelp, she has been panting a lot more than I would expect, anyone else experienced this? She is a medium sized breed but has quite a good coat so am just wondering if her hormones are just making her hotter than usual and this is just her cooling down, she has always preferred being outside in the fresh air

Has she gained lots of weight which is making her breathless? It may just be her hormones are making her feel strange.

This changeable weather isn't helping, my lot have dropped their coats for the second time since the beginning of the year and look really scruffy again when they were looking lovely a month ago.

She hasn't gained much weight but is rounding out

It isn't so much breathless more panting because she is hot or worried (but I don't think it is that)

just wondered if anyone else had experience of it as I really do not remember it in my other girl

My bitch has been 'breathing very heavily' for the last week or so, she is due next week. She has also been 'snorting' a bit. The vet thinks she has a bit of an allergy (I've never seen this behaviour in her before).

She is nearly 5 and had one previous litter.
