I was just starting to look into pet insurance for puppy (Drives me mad doing this), I thought id get a quote from the kennel club just to compare to others.

For a 13 week old Malinios puppy the cost was...£54.91 A MONTH! (for the lowest cover!) Are they kidding and does anyone actually pay this much? My 7 year old lab with hip dysplasia is only £26 a month with Pet Plan!

Think ill keep looking around. :)

I pay around £20 a month for a 6 month old toy poodle with them, and I took it out as her free insurance ran out.

WOW I was quoted that for breeding insurance. Is your breed known to have lots of illnesses/developmental/structural problems for them to charge so much?

When i was looking for insurance when i got my girl i allmost fell off my seat when i looked at the KC one, It was around that price.

I pay £200 and something for a top level cover with animal friends. (i also got a meearkat teddy as i went through compair the marked)

My 5 yr old dogs renewal just came through with Marks and Spencer.....

                                                                                                                                                 --- £92.79 per month

I don't have much choice we think major ear surgery on both ears may be necessary this year :(

My gosh thats awful that they can charge that!

Having shopped around yesterday the best I found on a lifetime policy was AXA (the 2 other Mali's and Dutch Shepherd are with them), our quote for the new man was £18.02 a month so still more than I pay for the others (Kody is £17.75, Heidi £14.35, Brenda is £10.65) so just need to sort it out today.

I use Sainsburys. I find them quite reasonable and most importantly, they payout swifty.

The KC is expensive. I always tell my puppy people, heres your KC insurance but do get other quotes before you renew.

The KC raised our Juniors insurance by £1 , acceptable.£19 a month. The 12 year veteran raised hardly anything to £19.79 , with the AA. My bitch raised £96 with Sainsburys. So I cancelled and went on Go Compare and restarted with another firm .

I insure with animal friends and have been very happy with them
5 year old Leo £33 per month, claimed up to £7000 a year (top lifetime cover)
3 year old Leo £26 per month, never claimed (slightly lower life time cover)
These two actually went down last year...

Got a quote for a 10 week old Leo, same address etc £68 per month (including multi dog discount as insure other dogs with them)...
The chap could not say why the price is so different when everything is the same (address, breed etc).
I have heard them increasing premium to ridiculous amounts in the last year but ours went down...
Thank you very much, but no thank you AF, I don't think I will be recommending them anymore!

Took out Tesco insurance for my youngster last year, £12 per month. Have had one claim - settled very swiftly. British people based in the UK (now there's a novelty) working in their call centres :D

Several years back I had my dogs insured with M&S, after the first year payments came down, added 3rd dog, still no claims, the renewals came in on the first 2 and they had tripled, I contacted them thinking there was a mistake but there wasn't, the dogs were only 3/4yrs old,  cancelled it and started putting money away each month, when the third ones came for renewal it too had tripled so I cancelled it too. Had I made a claim I would have expected an increase but I never made a claim on those policies or ones before.
