Just after any tips to help it heal, really :-)

Opi (rott/GSD) has a hot spot on her cheek on the line of her jawbone, whilst I've heard of them plenty of times it's not something I've had to deal with myself.

Vet's not concerned and he's clipped about an inch all round it, and has just told me to bathe it with dilute hibiscrub a couple of times a day.  Will that do it?  It's not bothering her at all.

And the Q on tail glands - she's had slight hair loss down either side of her tail since about March time, just a little bit a few inches long.  She's on soloxine, diagnosed mildly hypothyroid at the start of April but while she looks much better generally (shed the couple of kgs I was struggling with, and her coat looks amazing compared to April), her tail hasn't improved much.  The vet said it might have something to do with glands in that area, any thoughts on that?  Sounds a bit odd to me - the patches are about 4" from the base of her tail.  She doesn't chew it at all, and her anal glands are fine (always have been, in 9 years I don't recall ever having to empty them).

Hibiscrub is great for keeping spots, scrapes and sore patches clean, and is also quite drying.  Hibiscrub is my number one coping strategy for all skin issues and I'd be pretty confident that it will do the job for Opi.  Use a dilute amount to wipe her face after eating as well as bathing twice a day.  If it helps you can put it into a spray to flush the area (I buy small bottles from Superdrug a bit like this one).  Don't be tempted to use a greasy cream like Sudocrem - in my experience it's more likely to make your dog worry away at the spot and they can end up making it worse.

Ok, thanks.  It's far enough away from her mouth that it doesn't get mucky when she eats - it's quite high and far back on her cheek, luckily so as far as these things can be good, it's a good place for a hot spot to be!
