Just wondering adverage prices as someone somewhere mention the cost of there class as it was a lot more than my class. I guess location will effect cost too. At the class i go to its £2 for the first dog then £1 for extra dogs.

I pay £2.50  but only ever taken one dog so not sure for more.

Ours is £5 for annual membership then £2 per class; I don't know if it's reduced for extra dogs because I've only ever taken one at a time.

£2 yearly membership and 60p per person and 60p per dog each class.

Ringcrafts really struggle to cover costs, new puppies coming tend to be sporadic, and during the ehight of the shwo season peopel tend to stay away if they ahve jsut been to a show.

Finding a hall big enough, at reasonable cost, and that allwo dogs is a nightmare.

I used to ahve oen in walkign distance, but both halls were knocked downa dn nto replaced (due to economics and vandalism) and this one is a drive away (poor hubby gets very bored), so we don't support every week like we used to but only go when we need to.

It has a knock on effect for attendance at Open shows.

Wehn I went to weekly rigncraft I made friends there in many breeds, so would go to local open shows and enjoy socialising with them and seeing how they got on, supporting or comiserating. 

Now I rarely enter an all breed Open show as with cutting costs the least enjoyable shows hit the dust.  I don't enjoy sitting around for maybe one or two classes, littel meaningful competiton, with rarely a familiar face to talk to, though it affects OH more, as I happily talk to anyone.

Agree with Brainless though. I have seen our ringcraft go from a flourishing group where on some nights you struggled to get through the door and it took so long in the queue to practice you only had a couple of goes per evening but the rest of the time you spent chatting and socialising the dogs.
Now its almost deserted. I have been on some nights with a couple of dogs to be the only one there. Don't know what it is, (can't be the cost) maybe its the general move away from showing thats going on at the moment. I've seen our breed numbers go down open and champ level. But back to ringcraft, sometimes it just me, other times there maybe four dogs...doesn't bode well for the future.

That's sad rocknrose.  Sadly though these days many coming into the show world think they can go straight into showing and go straight into champshows etc. without doing ringcraft.

We don't do too badly at our ringcraft think that there was only around 11 or 12 last week which is a small number.

I actually don't think some people realise how much it costs to hire a room for the night and also how hard itis to find places where you can take dogs these days.

Ours is £2 a week plus £7 annual membership.  I'm really pleased as everyone is friendly and helpful - tea is 30p or coffee 40p so I always make sure I have a cuppa too after puppy class ends so I can watch other dogs and have a socialise.

at the one i go to some nights there is only me and 2 other peopel and afte the first half some go and befor its been just me left, then some nights there loads.  A yearly fee isnt a bad ideavat all.

Normally for the ringcrafts I have been to (several clubs over the years) you have to be a member of the club, which is why some postees are quoting a yearly fee.

For a good many years it was £1 a night(1 dog) but I think its gone up to £2 now & yes they do a reduction for 2 or more pups from the same owner.

At the one I go to it is £4 year for joint membership and from September is going up to £3 each/per dog per night. Agree with all the other comments.

We were dismayed this year at the AGM (which preceded a normal training session), as a number of the usual (generally younger people) were there, but they stayed at the back of the hall and didn't take part in the AGM itself as they said they weren't interested in that sort of thing. I actually found it very disrespectful to the hardworking committee.

The cost of holding shows, venues/marquees etc. is exorbitant and this society is running two shows a year plus ringcraft plus an obedience section (which seems to be suffering too).

One of the shows was held at a new venue back in January and a lot of people were complaining about a variety of things.

This committee are saints! As are most others I think.
