Hi everyone,

This isn't a question just something I want to share and to see if anyone has had a similar thing happen. My old boy was diagnosed with an inoperable throat tumour in April. The last couple of weeks my 7 month old pup has been driving him mad licking around his mouth, she gets so excited when she sees him and starts this licking. She doesn't do it to any of my other dogs at all.
On Tuesday we went to the vets for oscars check up and the vet said the tumour has now spread all into his mouth. She showed me all the ulcerated, nasty looking tissue! It looks like my little girl knew something about this before any of us did.
Just hoping we can get him to his birthday in september as we are planning a big party for him!!! He's my first golden and one in a million!

Iread something like that in the mail recently, a woman discovered she had breast cancer (I think it was the second time) because her dog kept pawing at the area and would not leave it alone

Did a quick search and it seems to happen quite a bit!

Absolutely possible, and dogs are being trained to do it these days.  Some years ago the first one was a Schnauzer called George, trained to check moles for malignancy.

Many stories abound, from dogs digging at their owners' chests to show lung cancer, to other dogs chewing at moles to try and remove them.

I rember seeing that on a tv program, they were also trying to train some labs to do it if i rember right but appeared to be rather hit and miss with the ones they were training.
