Just wanted recommendations on wireless printers please. We have always had HP printer/copier/scanner &fax but now need to upgrade so we can wirelessly print from iPad etc.
We seem to always be needing cartridges though print loads so it could be our printer not so efficient anymore (bout 6-7 yrs old). I was advised that the brother printer with separate 3colour cartridges?? Blue yellow & red? Is more economical.
Thanks in advance!

This might be worse than useless but not all printers are compatible with IPad, my Kodak printer won't talk to my IPad.  I believe that somewhere on the iPad forums there is a list of ones that will do the job.

I've recently bought an Epson SX535WD and am very pleased with it. Can't comment re iPad sadly (don't have one :-( ) but works very well with a Mac PowerBook. I went for a printer with separate colour cartridges based on overall cost efficiency, and went with this particular model after looking through the Which? reports, feedback on Amazon and other computer reviews and most of all, price.

It's black printing is good, colour printing is very good, it's a scanner and copier too which I actually didn't need, but have since found very useful, copies are very good, black and colour. What I particularly like is the auto duplex facility (think that's what it's called) which basically means you can print back to back without faffing around re-inserting paper and getting the first half dozen all printed wrong! It will take card, but not very heavy duty. That's the one downside for me ... need a rear sheet feeder to print on card. This might prove to be a bit of a big downer for me long term, but if you don't have the need to to much printing on very heavy card, I'd thoroughly recommend. I think the HP printers still have rear paper feeders, so would eliminate this problem. I've previously had HP and they've always lasted very well, but I'm always very impressed with the colour printing of Epsons.

I looked at the Kodak (meant to be the cheapest inks) but based on the Which? reports, the cost of printing was very similar, however, the Kodak printers didn't get as high ratings for black text printing. I started getting all hung up about the dpi's of the printers as I do quite a bit of photo printing, but then decided anything new was going to be a zillion times better than my previous printer (similar age to yours), and it is. Hope this is of some help.

Edited to add this link - Apple Store says it works with iPads :

thank you so much for this, I normally do all the research on which? etc but haven't had a lot of time to get bogged down with it all (as is what normally happens!). I had heard that separate colour ink cartridges were supposed to be more cost effective so will definitely look at the Epson. I don't do card printing so that isn't an issue, the only thing my current one has is a fax which is rarely used but does come in handy, but these days I guess people just scan documents and email them.

Hi, I have an HP Photosmart B110a, it's a printer, scanner, copier all-in-one.  I've had it about 10 months and so far so good.  It also has 3 separate colour cartridges plus the black cartridge.  It's quite handy to be able to replace cartridges individually.  But printers are so cheap these days that they are always going to make the money on the cartridges whatever you buy, IMO.   HTH.

I have a cannon which prints wirelessly prints from the iPad.

I just needed to download the App.

It also has separate ink cartridges.

I don't have an iPad, but have alwasy had Epson's as they seem to work best with Apple computers and laptops, my current one is wireless, can't remember the model number but it is called the "Small In One" on the box.  Works very well in both colour and b&2, not too noisy, but, as always, Ink cost as fairly high.  If you get one which has 2 ink size options make sure you pick the bigger option, the small ones last no time at all.

We recently bought a wireless HPb210 photosmart which is good (but not tried it with an iPad).  Really easy to use (has to be for me!) but does seem to go through a lot of ink carts ????

After hours of research I recently took delivery of the Epson "small in one" Stylus  SX445W but haven't used it yet, I have used Epson in the past with great success but wanted something wireless with seperate inks, I got them all via Amazon as I had Nectar points which I converted to vouchers for Amazon.
