My little girl jr mix has been acting a bit funny over the past few days. At first we thought she was sulking because she had been to have a clip and she gets funny after things like that - the time we had getting her to accept a collar when she was a puppy - sulked big time when we did that.
Anyway, back to the point. She has been very quiet and subdued since Wednesday. Still happy to see us, wags her tail and rolls over for a tummy rub BUT she seems to have lost all of her sparkle. She will only play for a few seconds, if at all - this is such strange behaviour for her - in fact usually she is a little maniac. She is eating as usual and her poo seems to be OK and it is not the heat because she has a bed in a cool corner which she can go to but she prefers to be lying in the sunshine.
Now the thing is, even though she was spayed before she ever had a season, she is acting like a girl doggie we had in the past when she came in season. Is it at all possible that she thinks she is in season ??? Also, she is doing multi wees when out walking, when she didn't used to bother much, prefering her own garden for this.

Possible, if a tiny bit of ovary was left behind, but not likely, especially if she isn't attractive to males and showing no other signs like vulvar swelling etc.
She could have a water infection which is making her miserable. I would try to get a sample (tin tray shoved under as she goes in the garden), and take it and her to the vet.
But if she did have a water infection, wouldn't she be running to the garden more often? Also, last night, on her walk, she was quite interested in getting to a dog behind his gate up the road from us

No idea how old she is but if she is acting out of character or is in any way depressed then take her to the vet, we really can't say what may be wrong or even guess as we know so little about her except she not a puppy and was spayed very young.
UTI may not lead to noticeable increase in urine depends where and what the infection is.
Yes you are right, it is the vets then. Thank you
What age was she spayed? Female hormone levels surge/fall before and after a season and if she was spayed just before what may have been her first season, then it is possible she will remain in that 'state of mind'. Her body will believe that she is coming into season. I know that one of the signs of my dogs coming into season is going for a wee more often, marking their territory, becoming more playful, equally they can be depressed and dull looking, sometimes one of them often has an upset stomach the week leading up to her season. Just a thought.

I have always believed this. I had a bitch spayed 35 years ago that I now believe still had hormonal feelings. I do think that you have a valid point - one of the reasons to wait until you know a bitches cycle before working out her "best" time for a spay.
