Good Luck Inka, try and stay calm, deep breaths and you'll be fine.

well jackie wishing you good luck too :) thanks! heading off now, thanks everyone, paws crossed

Look at it as not a test but a drive around with a friend just to show them how good you at driving.

If you don't put yourselves under too much pressure you will be fine.

- By Nova Date 11.08.12 09:57 UTC
Yeah! go on tell us how it went then I can tell you about the dentist LOL as if you want to know I most certainly did not.
- By inka [ie] Date 14.08.12 10:24 UTC
I failed....when I did my pretest last week I asked the instructor specifically what way to do something, he told me, i did it his way - and failed over it!!! ARRRGH! I was so angry but I'm over it now, next time I just do it another way. Bleh!!

Thanks for all the good wishes though-  and hey - how was the dentist? Better than this I hope!

Inka, sorry you had a stupid examiner I am sure they got it wrong never mind sure you will make it next time.

Dentist, not too bad got a referral.

Optician, not too bad got a referral.

Seems like no one wants to deal with me these days :-)
- By inka [ie] Date 14.08.12 10:50 UTC
Glad to hear they weren't as bad as you expected! Must say I'd prefer the dentist to the driving test....i've already re applied so can we swop next time? ;)
- By claire_41 [gb] Date 14.08.12 11:13 UTC
I passed on my 4th attempt Inka. Fingers crossed for next time :)
- By Dakkobear [gb] Date 14.08.12 11:24 UTC
My daughter passed a couple of weeks ago on her second attempt and I have to say she is a much better driver now than she was at her first attempt! Keep practising and you'll pass in no time.

My father was an chief examiner and he always told his staff to rate confidence along with driving skills as he said if the candidate was confident then they would deal with any mistake without endangering themselves or others, don't know if it worked or not but that is what I did, tried to appear super cool and got through first time.

I passed mine on the third attempt back in the 70's, on the first attempt someone stepped in front of me at a junction, I went for the brake but so did the examiner and he insisted it was him that stopped the car, can't remember what I failed on the second time, on the third one[ car I hadn't driven before] my reversing round a corner went haywire so thought I had failed again, shortly after that there was a window cleaner with a hand cart going up the hill and I had to try and get by him but there was lots of oncoming traffic, I had to keep going slowly and not stall the car, roll back down the hill or hit the window cleaner, the rest went off OK, I was amazed when he told me I had passed, he congratulated me on my control of the car when dealing with the window cleaner, I think that was the reason I passed.

I bought my first car a week later for £100,Cortina Mk 1, I used to take fellow student nurses with me for the first few times I went out as I was used to someone being in the passenger seat.

Hopefully you won't have to wait too long for your next attempt.
