Has anyone used one of these raised beds? Thinking of getting one to leave in the garden for Nando, as he likes to be out there but does get quite hot. Do they dry quickly when wet, or are they best to bring them indoors during rain?

Bought one at Crufts a few years ago but eventually had to admit defeat and give it away as all of mine (10 collies) hated it. Think it felt like an unsafe hammock to them when they made to get on it. They were so disconcerted by the noise of the creaking fabric/the feeling that it was 'giving' way underneath their feet that none actually lay on it at all so it was passed on as good as new. Very annoying as they are not cheap lol.

......and you will have to sweep underneath it quite frequently as dust bunnies/toys etc tend to collect underneath.

Oh, I hoover twice daily anyway... everything gets dust/hairs underneath it when you have Nando in the house! I find hairs in my bedroom and he never ever comes upstairs!! LOL

Thanks for the advice.. I might try and find somewhere with a money back guarantee in case he doesn't like it!

If you want a garden bed get Nando a wooden pallet to try first and just cover it with a bit of waterproof tarpaulin or just sling some fleece on it when the weather's good enough for lounging.  At least this way you'll get a sense of whether he might like a 'sleeping platform' - and then you can shop around for something else if you want to upgrade.

It's worth mentioning though that the coolest place for him to sleep will be on the grass, in the shade, and he may just reject your new bed offers! :)

We have artificial lawn in our garden and I don't think it's too cool. I really like your idea of making one for him to see how he goes! My Dad's factory uses pallets an awful lot so I will get him to bring me one from work to try out!

Believe me, it is only through necessity! Nando leaves me a litter of puppies daily just from his fur.

These won't neccesarily give you a true indication as we have a wooden pallet outside one back door and a sleeping platform outside another - both to help the dogs into/out of the dog flaps. They have no problems with these at all but it didn't mean they would even step on let alone sleep on a coolaroo lol.

I've ordered one on eBay that was going cheaply. At least if he doesn't like it I haven't spent much. He is winning a photo competition for a new bed at the minute, but it doesn't end until the end of this month and his old bed is on the way out so I thought I'd buy this cheap one for now, and if it's not any good and he doesn't win the competition I'll buy him another bed.

The bed arrived today and thankfully he loves it! :)

At first he didn't have a clue what it was, but then I put his old minging towel on it and he loved it! Dogs, eh! Who'd have 'em?

I've got several Kuranda raised beds and the dogs love them. Quite sturdy too.
