I know there are people who have dogs that have Cushings, but does anyone have a dog that is also diabetic? My 9yrs old yorkshire terr has both and as of today will alos have a leg amputated. Due to Cushings he has very weak ligaments and after two graft operations on his back knee, which have not gone well he today has to have that leg amputated. Did we make the right decision to do this, would love to hear from anyone that has had similar problems with their dog that has Cushings

Hello
I have two amputees, one of whom also has skin problems but not Cushings or diabetes,
I just want to wish you the best of luck with your dog, I have just gone through an agonising decision on whether to have a steel screw removed from my nearly ten year old Rottie x's leg, the op went well.
As to making the right decision, really this is only something you can decide as to what is best for your dog. With my lad, his quality of life, and the alternatives to surgery were deciding factors.
To me it is the quality and not the quantity of life for your dog which would be paramount in any decisions you make.
Feel free to mail me if you want a chat, I know I can't help with the cushings or diabetes, but have just gone through the same decision process with my lad
Good luck
Theresa
