Wizz, a puppy from my first litter (the first English Shepherds to be born in UK) raced in the 2012 European Flyball Championships yesterday. Wizz's team won both the Division speed trials in the morning with the fastest time and then won the actual whole division in the afternoon.

So we have an ES European Flyball Champion in UK!!!! :)

Only in America can they invent breed names for breeds, of countries where they are not bred.  Australian shepherds adn Now English shepherds.  :)

Regardless of the name issue, where can I see what they look like?

English shepherds. To the untrained eye they resemble a border collie x Australian shepherd.

Hadn't heard of those, they're nice looking - must admit to me you are right and they do look like Border x Aussie!

I can't believe people say rubbish like this without ANY knowledge of the breed. They originate in UK, they were the predecessors to the BC. www.edenvillage.co.uk

Congratulations! It's so nice when pups you breed go on to do well. I've bred the current only Papillon to compete under the British Flyball Association. :)

Then they can't be the first 'English' shepherds born here, LOL.

It seems strange to use the name of a country in naming a breed, when it is not recognised in its purported country of origin???

No need to take offence, it was a light hearted comment on strange American nameing protocols.
- By JackieG [gb] Date 30.07.12 14:17 UTC
It is not recognised here because the English Shepherd was lost because of breeding for a specialist herder (the BC). The settlers took them to the US and kept them as they were. I brought them back home. :)
