So who actually got bells at 8:12 this morning? apart from a car alarm at about 6:30 Crewe was depressingly quiet.

Just one solitary church bell here, as I don't live wihin earshot of the Parish church, but glad someone took the trouble.

Our village church bell woke me up!

No church bells here which is disappointing but somebody round the corner was ringing away with a hand bell ! I searched hi and low and couldn't find one !

Here in Northampton East, we gathered together at the church in the shopping centre and had breakfast together then prayed for the country and local area. At the appointed time we went out into the centre, with a variety of bells of all shapes and sizes (I used the chimes on my i-phone) and duly rang them for three minutes. A great way to start the Olympic period, and to pray blessings on our nation. :-)

Sorry no, most of our band had to go to work - it was discussed at our practice night but it wasn't feasible. :-)

I was too engrossed driving to work, and nobody has mentioned the O word.
I assume, as I don't turn the TV on everyday, that I'm unlikely to hear a thing about it.

Nothing at all here - I listened out specially (and said "ding-a-ling-a-ling" because I couldn't find a bell :-o !).

Stuck in my office without a window that will open although to be honest I had planned to slip out the front door where I am sure I would have heard something from the town but clean forgot!
LOL I debated watching Big Ben on tv or getting the dogs out before the sun burnt the cloud off and it got too hot.
The sun won and as I got in the car at 08.12hrs.....a solitary neighbour was waving a tiny handbell out of her window.
Have to admit I chuckled as she looked rather funny!
Good luck Team GB!

Plenty of Bells here ;)
Didnt hear any. Surely they should have rung the bells at 8.12 pm i.e 20:12 ????

No, it was twelve hours beforehand; 08:12
The Red Arrows were doing their stuff at 20.12.

Were they? I somehow missed them.
When did they show the Red Arrows?
I didn't watch much of the preliminary programme because I thought they were giving too many spoilers and I wanted the surprises :) but I was watched at 20.12. The presenters were talking as the clock showed up on the screen but nobody mentioned the time at all!
>When did they show the Red Arrows?
At 20.12 (twelve minutes past eight pm) when they overflew the arena, trailing red white and blue smoke.

On the BBC? I was sure I was watching as the clock ran onto 20.12 and it was just the presenters in the commentary area. Oh well I shall have to find it on iplayer.

Yes, on BBC1 in the run-up programme before the start at 9pm.

I was in and out the room, perhaps Hubbie had changed the channel and what I glimpsed wasn't the Olympic programme at all! :)

It was quite brief; it happened when they were talking to John McEnroe, I think, and they cut away from the studio to see the planes approach and fly over, then back to the chat.

We were leaving for Leeds on Friday morning when the Church bells at the end of the land began, followed by bells on car radio as we started up. Nephew not a fan of bellringing so was very unimpressed!
