Our Bordeaux bitch Ella is having a phantom pregnancy and is producing milk. Wh have had her checked at the vets today but before we give her anything to dry her up I thought I would post to see whether anyone knows of any pups that are in need of a mom for any reason.
I know when Ella had her l;itter and I had to hand rear I would have really appreciated a foster mom for them if only for te milk.
Obviously there is no guarentee it ewould work but anyone in this position is welcome to give it a try.
I think Ella is having this phantom due to what happened to her before as she did not get to rear her pups! Am starting to think I should have let her have a litter this season even though it was within a year because it is what she wants. Poor girl.
If anyone does need a foster mom let me know asap.
Thanks

Does the vet know of any pups need a foster? I always used to ask because my bitch could feed a small army!

I can't remember the name of a product I was told to use to dry her milk - when I asked for it at Boots, I was told NOT to use it, that all it contains is Epsom Salts - it dries up the milk, sure, but only by giving the bitch diarrhoea so that she dehydrates :(. I'm sure your vet wouldn't suggest anything like that, though.

Hi, yeah we did ask the vets but they know of no litters needing a mom.
The vet has suggested something to dry her up and stop the sympoms of her scratching her bed up but I thought I would just make sure she was not needed anywhere first.
Typical, when no bitches producing milk we get posts of litters needing a mom yet when a mom available no pups - sods law :-)

No, she still has a little milk but it is very weak now so will be dried up in the next couple of days.
