I'm accompanying my mate with the mad springer on his trip to Roger Mugford's tomorrow. I'm taking my camera, so if the weather's not to bad (fat chance), I can take some video. Should be really interesting to see what they reckon, especially the 'red-eyed' excitement and barking at other dogs.
His vet charged him £12 for a referal letter, is this normal? Sounds a bit steep to me, but them I am a tight-wad.

Hi Dave, I havent a clue how much a referral letter would cost, but it seem a bit steep to me too, I would imagine its not that cheap to see Roger Mugford either! - Let us know how you get on, I would be really interested to hear what happens :) Julie:)

i bet you have the abstop on him if he barks,

£12 sounds an absolute snip, a letter drawn up by any other professional, solicitor, architect, doctor etc would likely cost an awful lot more. Is he insured, cos I believe some insurance companys cover behavoural stuff don't they?
Hi Dave
If your young bitch is well behaved take her too! I have spent a couple of days with him (quite a few years ago now) and find that mostly he came up with common sense solutions. I had one of my bitches with me and she was used though the day as a stooge Expect to get involved not just sit back and watch. :)
Please let us know how you get on
Jealous:D

My vet charged me the same amount to do a referral letter to a specialist so it's probably a standard charge.
Hope the visit proves worthwhile ! :)
I have lots of respect for Roger Mugford, he does know dogs and a friend of a friend of mine used to work for him!!!!! Lucky so and so!! :D
Please do let us know what he thinks and suggests for your friend with the potty Springer :)
£12 for the referral letter is nothing these days, and I wouldnt say it was unusual in any way, JMHO.
HOpe it goes well and I can't wait to hear what happens - I'm jealous too

What sort of things does Roger Mugford cover ? Behavourial Problems ? Do you have to have a vet referral or can you contact him direct ? Is he expensive ?
Sorry for all the questions I'm just curious. :-)

Hi Clair, yes he does behavioural things. You can contact him direct but he still needs a letter from vet covering any previous treatments etc. Is he expensive? You bet, £75/hour +VAT minimum initial consultation 2 hours.
I've posted the result of our trip on behaviour board.
