Please has anyone come across anything simular as the vets seem stumped  I  would be glad of any input

Hello :)
Im sorry you are going through so much with your pup.  It would probably help the more experienced people on here to know a little more.  How old is your pup exactly, what breed as some dogs have spaniel type ears and some more 'open'.  How did the symptoms present themselves, did they just pop up, did they gradually appear?  What do the spots look like, are they like tiny heat type spots, water filled blisters, acne type spots?  Are there anywhere else like the pups belly? Is there any discharge from the ear or black dirt?  How does your pup seem in themselves, bright and happy or miserable. Just one last thing, has your pup got any blisters/spots under their chin?

Sorry for all the questions, but it might help.

Dont mind any questions at all  2 pups 13 weeks now brother and sister sister FINE
No dirty ears vet looked down as much as she could couldnt see anything amiss  but the lumpy bits on the inside of the ear that you can see as soon as you turn the ear back were very red and VERY swollen  the pups are spaniels and  rash like spots as well there
I never thought to look under the chin they are in there beds for the night now so will look first thing, but none on the tummy i looked there
they dont go on grass now and havent done fo 2 weeks now as i thought maybe it was the grass

There is something called puppy pyoderma, Ive had first hand experience of it with a 9 week old pup.  If it is something like this, then the inside of the ear flaps look like nettle rash, red, hot and blistered, also under the chin.  The hair around their eyes goes thin too.  Let us know.

only thing we did have before the ear problem the same pup had wet eyes for a while and the vet gave me eye ointment to put in and that did clear up fine i wonder if theres a connection of some kind? but cant say the hair around the eye is thinning but i will keep a watch on them now

been back to vets AGAIN this morning ears still red and swollen and temperature 103 just dont know what to try or do  things just dont seem to be improving and i think vet is no wiser

First do not worry the temperature is not a problem, second ask the vet to take a swab so you know you have the correct ABs.

I was going to ask too if your vet has taken a swab test see if that comes up with anything?

been back today and 2 vets looked at pup today and think it may be an autoimmune problem

i would recommend getting a swab done to make sure you dont have any nasty infective agents like psudomonas..im currently treating a rescue spaniel for a nasty infection with this that had been left untreated for lord knows how long and he's potentially facing having a canal wall reserction done because of it :-(

Welshie, is it the EAR FLAP? or the ear canal?

I have found that with my terriers, feeding them food that is too rich for them leads to sore, inflamed ear flaps - very red and hot and the dog shaking her head occasionally - no blisters, no smell and no discharge/wax though.  It clears very quickly (within a few days) with a less rich diet and I put on Sudocreme to soothe the irritation which calms it very quickly.   Of course, if it's an ear infection this is different and needs antibiotic treatment.

Ask the vet if it could be puppy strangles, not exactally classic symptoms but the pup I had with it had very sore scabby weeping ear flaps, it spread quickly to his eyes and neck. Just ABX alone will not help if it is, other names are puppy head gland disease, juvenile pyoderma orjuvenile cellulitus.
May be worth looking into

Hope it's not that, sounds really painful for the poor pup :(

Definitely worth checking out

Well fingers crossed seems to be improving a lot, not half as red no blisters and pup shows no sign of pain, as before i couldnt lift the earflap up gently without him whimpering, now he is running and charging round like 3 month puppies do
I  have dropped his steroid tablet to just half a day which if it carries on improving i will gradualy drop off altogether and he has cream twice a day on the INSIDE of earflap
So heres hoping hes on the mend
thanks for all the imput of help its just so frustrating when you cant put your finger on what or how to sort the problem
