About 3.00am I was woken by Kitten my male cat, he was scrambling over my dresser which he's not really allowed on.  He then went under the bed and started growling which is something he only does when he has caught something.

Then this strange noise started, a series of fast loud clicks, sort of like a gieger counter, my first thought was a Cicada but we don't have them in the UK (I think).  In my mind it was some huge scary insect so I made my hubby get up and sort it out.  He turned the light on and kitten dropped it, it was a bat! It seemed unharmed, was popped out the window and it flew off so I hope it was ok.

I have no idea where it came from, my cats don't go outside and I haven't had my upstair windows opened in weeks. There wasn't much fuss made in catching it so I wonder if it was just hanging somewhere making a noise that only Kitten could hear and he just picked it up.

Kitten is feeling very manly at the moment :-D

Lol, there are always lots of cuddles for kitten, he is the biggest mummies boy ever!

I will never forget the time that my terrier cross breed ran excitedly into the house, looking as if she was carrying something.

I followed her into the living room, just in time to see her gently open her mouth and lower on to the carpet A BABY FROG!   Totally unharmed, and she looked so proud as he started hopping around.

Our Pokey brought a toad through our bedroom window in the middle of the night a few weeks ago and yowled to wake us up to show us what she had brought in. I screamed as was half a sleep and wasn't expected a slimey horrible toad :-0

We she also has caught a bat but her favourite catch are pigeons.

LOL, that's what husbands are for - pest control purposes :-D

How exciting for it to have turned out to be a bat. :)

Is it possible it got in through the eaves and then through a loft hatch or a vent through a wall, or down a chimney?

her favourite catch are pigeons.

One of my cats was a real bleep with pigeons, he would bring small birds in unharmed, mice some hurt some not,  but pigeons were always killed, never forget the image when having guests one day and a shadow lurked above the conservatory we looked up to see my cat with a pigeon as big as him hanging from his mouth looking down at us......... I just said...........well, here comes our starter...... :-D

He was an absolute terror though.

Pokey goes that little bit further and makes an incision right down the middle of the breast and then feast on the breast meat and then all the innards :-0

She makes a right mess especially if she brings one inside.

The dogs like it as they normally have the left overs :-)

I can't think how it got in, the loft hatch is shut and the chimney was blocked off last year.

I'm just glad it didn't cause Kitten any harm, when he was a young fella and still went outside, his catches always went wrong for him, he got a very nasty bacterial infection from a rat once and he was so ill all his fur stood on end, even on his face, it looked very strange.  And then there was the time he caught a blackbird and ate it whole, feathers and all and it got stuck in his gut, his treatment for that included vaseline, a rubber hose and warm water!  Poor little guy was walking strange for days.

One of my cat Monty's worst ones was a Leveret , he must have brought it in alive and it died of shock, I found it curled into a ball in the corner of the bedroom, poor thing :-(
