I have some garden pinks that have been a bit overshadowed and crowded so have grown a bit too leggy and straggly, so I want to move them to a more open site. If I replant them a bit deeper will they root from the buried stems (a bit like taking cuttings but still attached to the plant) or will that kill them?
try splitting the plants at the roots to propagate them--sorry that of course doesn't mean pulling the plant OFF its roots, I mean root division...:-{ brain not functioning
Yes they should send up shoots from the buried stems, I have seen on gardening programmes where a plant has become "bald" in the middle and putting compost over the bald shoots has rejuvenated the plant, may not flower till next year.
