Topic Dog Boards / General / Inexpensive grooming tools?

I need a pair of electric clippers (preferably something like Oster Golden A5) with #10 and #40 blades, some straight and thinning shears, a hand dryer with side vents and possibly a grooming table. At the moment, I can't really afford to buy them new. Does anyone have recommendations on where to get good-quality, used grooming supplies?

Andis clippers are similar and Christies Direct usually will have some second hand refurbished, also had sold ex display too, usually just under 3/4 to 1/2 of new price.  The only other place I can think of is ebay but they usually fetch high prices.  In the past I have sold year old clippers on ebay and they reached nearly new prices so you'd likely be looking at very old sets there for a reasonable price.  It may be worth just ringing round all the usual suppliers and asking about refurbished.  Sorry can't be more helpful as they do hold their price well.  Christies do refurbished driers too, not sure about grooming tables. It might be worth looking on Gumtree for a groomer selling up.

Thanks so much! My other concern with eBay is that you never know for sure that the product you're getting works properly if it's second-hand. Will have a look at Christies Direct as that sounds like my best option. Any recommendations on places to get clipper blades sharpened? I've realised that I could easily fly over an old set of clipper blades to save money, but they desperately need sharpening.

Sorry just noticed your flag, I thought you were in UK, not sure now about sourcing equipment where you are.  I use Shear Ease Ltd for blade grinding, but there are lots of different places about, I always have used them and never been disappointed and for scissors they are amazing, no matter now mangled they are, they straighten, sharpen and tighten them.  Christies do blade grinding too but not sure how good. Sorry can't be of more help..

I am in the UK, I think the flag changed because I'm in Bermuda on holiday at the moment?
Will definitely look into Shear Ease as well, that sounds like exactly what I'm looking for. The blades I would be bringing over are a bit dull and took quite a beating when I used them to do an emergency grooming on a very matted rescue a while back, so definitely looking for someone reputable to fix them providing it's cheaper than replacing them.

Very likely - however when I post via my phone, it always comes up with a Kuwaiti flag! Never been there, and in fact haven't been outside the UK since my passport ran out years ago!
Blimey, Bermuda - lucky you :) Don't bother coming back, summer's cancelled... lol.

I just got some blades back this morning from Shear Ease, they always send a price list of what is currently available, anyway they are selling reconditioned Oster A5 clippers for £65, there may be more information from their website but might be worth looking at but Tel numbr is 01407 832 800

Thanks so much!! That's about what I got mine for new, but of course I got them in the States and would be hesitant to use them on a converter. Will definitely have a look.
