If they are anything like my breed, it honestly varies.  I have had several spayed Chi Long Coats, with no difference at all.  Yet one I had spayed last year is horrendous.  It is so dense and wooly I am tempted to get the clippers out.

I've not noticed anything dramatic in the ones I trim, nothing like the explosion of wooliness you get in spaniels!
