I saw this in a catalogue recently as a prefix to a dog's name - does anyone know what it means?
i.e. Gr CH XXXXX XXXXX

I know this dog is not a SH CH or CH in line with KC show regs.

Yes, Grand Champion in the US - I think the AKC do this as well as UKC now?

Yes it's now an AKC award. American Champions now compete for points gained by winning Best Of Breed. they have to gain a further 25 points, getting 3 majors along the way to claim the title of Grand Champion. There's then different levels for points above that - bronze, silver, gold etc.

Grand champion .. In addition to what's already been said it could also be an Australian Grand Ch. For Australian ch you need 100 points for the grand 1000 points

Malakai, AKC GCh points can also be earned from Best of Opposite Sex and Select awards, providing dogs of the same sex were defeated.
