me and my mum took 2 pups to a groomers afew miles away from where we lived mums pup is 5months and i took my daughters pup now 6months.....well we went to pick them back up and she siad my mums dog needs a sleeping tablet (and not in a very nice way)! milly (mums pup) was barking and tryin to get to izzi milly was making a bark/growl nosie but only wanting to play , the groomer then bent over picked milly up with her front legs :( she yelped!! and if that wasnt enough she then droped her but court her with her lead but by doing this milly was choking!!!....my mum walked out ...while this was happening izzi was choking and was very raspy.....i also forgot to say while she was taking to us when we 1st got there to pick the pups up she screemed at a dog that was on the table because he was barking ,she turned round and screamed shot it before i kill you!! and i swear i wanted to cry!! after walking out and going to the car to find my mum in floods of tears after seeing what she did to her dog and screaming at the other dog.....that night i had to take my daughters dog to the vets she was still chokeing and very raspy i told the vet what had happend and she was of same thinking as me the groomer may have had the noose to tight because she would let her cut her face she said she moved too much (the groomer!)......that was 3 days ago and shes still raspy but not as bad ,i was thinking of going to see a solisitor what do you guys think ??? she brags she grooms very well known show dogs! i feel so sorry for the dogs that go there!! :(

sorry for long post! x

~Does the council licence the kennels, I would contact them AND go and see a solicitor, and contact the RSPCA xxx
Hope your daughters dog is okay and hope the Vet will back you up xxxx

I would speak to trading standards and I would probably advise this groomer that you won't be back due to the way she handles animals. I would also (depending on what trading standard and maybe environmental health say) speak to the RSPCA about this womans handling practices.

I am not sure that groomers do have to be licensed in the same way that kennels would, but there must be something governing the way they practice, surely.

Good on you and maybe if she is a member on here she will feel ashamed at what she has done :( :(
Really do persue this as people will have seen what she does and not gone back, but not complained, so no come back. She should not be a dog groomer :( :( :(
Good luck we are all behind you xxxx

> she put a sarcasic post up on her facebook page

Don't be tempted to use FB as a method of communication - whatever provocation you receive.  As others have suggested I would take it further.  I'd also put the complaint in writing and send it to her, explaining why you won't use her again

Was she recommended to you?  Had you visited her before you booked your dogs in?  It's a salutary lesson to any reader that you must do your research before using a new groomers although it isn't foolproof.  I once had lovely reviews and I watched this groomer at work before booking my hairy wee mongrel in for a 'do'.  She was really nice, and ever so gentle with her dogs.  The only thing I forgot to ask was what sort of 'do' she'd be giving him, and presented with a mongrel of no determinate breed I think she changed her mind half way through...   Oh dear - poor lad - he looked like an accident with a lawn mower for weeks!!

Good luck with the next steps

I feel so sorry for you and this must have been very upsetting for you, your mum and most of all your dogs.

However please don't be tempted to name and shame on a public forum as you open yourself up to all sort of litigation issues as it could be said that it is your word against hers,as I'm sure this groomer will be able to come up with a list of sattisfied owners if challenged.

If I were in your posistion I would contact trading standards and see what they advise.

There is no place for such a groomer and you should pursue this matter further but protect yourself.
