Topic Dog Boards / Health / bioflow collar, magnet run out or needing recharged?
- By ali-t [gb] Date 24.06.12 15:28 UTC
I have used a bioflow collar on my 9 year old arthritic bitch for around 3 years and cannot praise them enough.  The collar has taken her from not being able to run or jump to being like a pup again.  In the last couple of weeks she has been a bit stiff again and has been holding up her back leg (the arthritic one that she had the patella op on) and I am wondering if her arthritis is getting worse or if the effects of the collar are wearing off.

Does anyone have any experience of the magnets losing effectiveness or if there is a way to recharge them?  I am happy to buy another collar if that is what I need to do but was hoping the collective CD experience could sort me out a cheaper way of getting my pooch pup like again.

I was told the following  - The magnets in the collar, and indeed all Bioflow products are powerful Neodymium magnets that only lose 1% of their strength during a 90 year period.  Ecoflow offers a lifetime guarantee.  Needless to say, the magnetic dog collar can be passed from dog to dog during your lifetime and it would still be just as effective.  The only 'problem' is the collar itself which although hardwearing will eventually need to be replaced,

So might be worth getting incontact with the person you bought it from?

it's sometimes said that the magnet shouldn't be used permanently on the dog as it may lose it's effectiveness, you could consider taking it off for a month and then trying again... or you could try something stronger... I use a magnet therapy wand and find it very good.  I believe it's not the magnet that's losing it's power, but the dog being unable to use it in the same way :-(

You can get about 20 strong magnets for around 7 quid on ebay.
Anyone who pays good money for these collars should look at just what it costs to produce them :).

Thats interesting to know Penny. Ebba has been wearing them for the last 2 years with GREAT effect but you can tell when you foprget to put the collar back on after she has had a bath!!! :) :)

I couldn't take it off for a month as she would be totally crippled.  If I give her a bath or take it off for any reason she can barely walk.

Where do you recommend getting a magnet therapy wand?  I am willing to try anything rather than having to start a medication regime.

I got mine over internet from Norstar, but I believe you can get them - as most things - off ebay :-)

I seem to remember that you can buy a dog bed which also has magnetic properties. Does anyone know ?

the other product I've heard good things of is the ceramic fibres - back on track products, which you can get from http://www.camddwrcanine.co.uk you can get dog coats, beds, etc and stuff for humans too, I've got an underblanket for the caravan :-)  friends whose dogs have had spinal strokes swear by them

Bioflow do their own mat for pets was about £60 the last time I looked but that would have been a year or so ago..

Don't forget that Bioflow do a money back guarantee, so you can't lose trying them. :)
I have heard of other (cheaper) magnets not working but I don't know anyone who has tried a Bioflow who hasn't been thrilled and wouldn't dream of returning it though. :)

I did! It did nothing for my old Polly, so I got my money back.
