anyone had a dog with a scratch on their eyeball, how did it heal and did it look awfull until it started to heal, been to the vets and on eye bath and antibiotics but looks awful

I have had it myself and it is excruciatingly painful, it was a broken old raspberry cane that did it while I was picking.

Only once with the dogs as we are not a breed prone to it, as their eyes are not prominent or large.

In the end we had to have the third eyelid sewn across allowing it to heal underneath, with AB's applied.

There was a scar at her next eye testing but it eventually disappeared, as never mentioned at subsequent ones (and I did ask).

My Border Collie had a horrible eye injury last year.  Looked like he had run into a sharp, hard object at speed.  It was badly ulcerated, and you could see a small crater in the eye.  I was given eye wash and antibiotic eye drops.  It did take some time, but nobody can tell that he ever had a problem, it is completely healed.

It did look nasty at the time though.

I had this a while ago on my bitch when my boy kicked her in the face after having a pee.  Here is the thread where I was seeking advice http://www.champdogsforum.co.uk/board/topic/127853.html
