Does a dog have to be 6 months + to be entered as 'NFC'?
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 14.06.12 13:16 UTC
It depends on the show. Some breed clubs shows allow NFC from 4 months.
- By PennyGC [gb] Date 14.06.12 13:24 UTC
depends on the show :-)

agility shows, it's 4 months
- By universalady Date 14.06.12 13:31 UTC
aaahh, it's Welsh KC, so it'll be 6 months + for NFC then
- By kayenine [gb] Date 14.06.12 14:35 UTC
I seem to remember that Welsh KC is scheduling agility classes - if the agility is on the same day as your group, you could enter NFC on the agility entry form..... ;-)

Can't you bring her in as an unentered or spectator dog, universalady?
- By suejaw Date 17.06.12 07:05 UTC
This spectator dog business is a funny one, seen that Bournmouth are doing it as no unneutered tent will be up.. So any Tom, Dick and Harry could come in with their untrained pet and cause a nusience....

Was at a club ch show the other day and it was in a hall, people had turned up albeit entered in show or NFC allowing their dogs to sniff who they liked and had no control over them, even thinking it was funny when it eyeballed my dog who made it clear he wasn't happy :-(

Is WKC doing spectator dogs?

The thing that really annoys me is that spectators can bring in their dogs unentered but exhibitors can't - exhibitors have to enter their dogs NFC if they wish to bring them into the show or hand them to someone entering as a spectator. Also puppies under 6 months can be bought in by spectators but nor if owned by an exhibitor - talk about double standards.

I've just seen that WKC are charging £6 for NFC (bless you WKC for making this a reasonable fee, unless some others who charge twice that), which suggests they aren't offering other options (e.g. unentered dogs tent)--although you could still ask the show secretary about spectator dogs, not sure whether the same age limit applies.
- By Brainless [gb] Date 18.06.12 11:40 UTC
Just seen Bournmouth which says no unentered dogs tent, NFC £15 but spectator dogs £5!
- By JAY15 [gb] Date 18.06.12 11:42 UTC
That's a real shame--the Welsh Springer people have always run the unentered dogs tent at Bournemouth which I think was suggested donations of £5....but apparently we were told our services would not be required this year.
- By JAY15 [gb] Date 18.06.12 11:43 UTC
NFC at £15 is the same as LKA last year--extortionate.
- By spudulike Date 18.06.12 14:38 UTC
Well, we've decided to camp on the grounds at WKC this year, so our just under 6 month pup will stay with my OH whilst I'm showing. But I have to say that it's a complete joke that some societies can allow Jo Public to bring their dogs as 'spectator dogs' for less than a NFC dog, makes my blood boil, just another example of the decent show people being taken advantage of!!!

IMO, if societies are going to allow 'spectator dogs' then the Kennel Club should make it a rule that the price SHOULD be the same as a NFC entry
- By JAY15 [gb] Date 18.06.12 14:44 UTC
spudulike, NFC dogs will be benched so there is a cost to accommodating them, whereas spectator dogs get nothing except their entry to the show. Pricing their entry at the same level as NFC would be unfair, unless you are proposing the higher fee as a deterrent to bringing unentered dogs in. I'd be interested to know how many 'spectators' actually use this opportunity as opposed to people with other dogs to show. I know I was very grateful to NGDA when my dog-sitting arrangements fell through at the last minute and I suddenly had two more dogs to bring along with me--the spectator dog route was a lifesaver for us.
