My poor friend texted me earlier today as she couldn't stop crying!

Her daughter ( a grown up) was heading of on a hen party weekend to another island, the plane wheel collapsed on landing and they slid along the runway, all unhurt, but shaken up nontheless.

For my friend though who is already of a nervous dispostion she is devastated at how close to a disaster this was and it is true to say....today is the most important one in our lives because none of us know what tomorrow may bring!

Oh no, we read about it as Blue Islands is the company we use and will be flying with in January when we go to Jersey for a stay at Longueville manor!!!
They are a good company, so surprised this happened.
Sounds like everyone was ok thank god xx

They are good, as are Aurigny too :)
An unfortunate incident, the friend is the worst of my friends for this to happen to as she worries soooo much :( .
They hopefully will have a really good party weekend paint Jersey red and forget all about it.
No doubt having closed the airport for most of the day and being all over the local papers for the weekend will be teased mercilessly about being  'unlucky' travel companions.

PS  Not sure Jersey is the best island though for a weekend...... ;)

I once flew from London City Airport to Paris for a long weekend. The plane was a small twin-propellor craft, no bigger than a National Express coach inside.

On the return flight I was sitting near the wing and noticed smoke coming out of one of the engines! The only thing that stopped me from panicking was the fact my father, an ex-aeronautical engineer, had told me from childhood that planes can still fly with one engine working on one side.

The pilot came on eventually and said there had been a small fire in one engine but it had been contained....... and we landed safely.

Mostly on these inter island flights we use 'trislanders' and the safety record is second to none.
Us locals who are used to flitting about a lot, are aware that if the the worst came to the worst then there is potential for a lot of 'gliding' to safety.
This was one of the bigger planes (for inter island).  Even so it had landed safely and I believe just buckled on taxiing.

It does make us think .... we really are quite vulnerable.
