My bitch was mated last May 7, 9, and 11. As per palpation last Saturday, day 33, the vet felt nothing.
However as day 33 can be too late for the palpation window, and as I've observed a thickening of her body as of late, I'm taking precaution to treat her as pregnant.

She's a picky eater since birth. However a few days post mating, her appetite picked up as she ate her usual food ration within 2-3 minutes vs the regular 15 min. She'd well be able to compete with my golden retriever when it comes to eating and speed. It was a welcome surprise. I though, still didn't add to her food for the 1st 4 weeks, so at times she looks as though she's begging LOL.

However come week 5, it took her more time to finish her meal. I did add more to her food, just a wee bit. She won't immediately come to her bowl and needed some encouragement. Now at week 6, she would eat just a half or a quarter of her morning meal! I know I"m supposed to increase her food again already, but she won't eat even her normal ration.

She'd eat her 2nd meal though because she's been hungry from ignoring the morning bowl. And I'm the type that 20 minutes after I put the bowl down, I take it out.

Is this normal? She didn't go through morning sickness though. Hoping for feedback.

We had a bit of a nightmare time when our little cocker waas pregnant.    She really didn't want to eat at all for the last 4 weeks.   Naturediet was a help, and we did get get to eat rather better if we mixed her food up wth some venison trimmings we got from one of our gamekeepers.    Also, sardines, pilchards , roast chicken- just keep trying.....

On day 42 I change over to puppy food, don't need as much as the calorie count is high[smaller pieces to chew] and daily worming with Panacur 10% liquid.

Not had a problem eating pre whelping, probable they know if they don't eat it someone else will.

She may be feeling nauseous without being sick or is vomiting outside when you haven't been looking.

Hope things pick up for you, keep us posted.

some pregnant bitches feel uncomfortable and will eat one minute and not the next.  with mien I simply offer them their bowl every few hours so they eat when they feel able, and these are the kind of girls who clear their normal rations in 30 seconds.

We have had the same problems and found mixing cooked rice with her meal also scrambled egg. Hope this helps your girl. Kevin
