We're due a rabies booster next year for a couple of dogs.

However, it's very rare that we take them abroad - they've been abroad twice in their lives. 

In the past, I've kept the rabies boosters up to date because I didn't want to have to start the Pet Passport from the beginning again.

Am I right, now though, that we would just have the rabies jab and then wait 21 days before going abroad?  So, as long as we know we're taking them abroad at least 21 days beforehand, I can get them jabbed when and if we need it?  So I don't need to keep the Pet Passport up to date on the off-chance we might need it?  I can let it lapse, and then get the booster done if we decide to go away?

Am I right with all that lot?

Yes; if the rabies vax is out of date you just need a new one and then a 21 day wait.

Yes, major advantage of not having to stick rabies jabs into them just to keep passport up to date :)

The rabies vac we use does not require a booster every year, but every 3 years so that may save you repeating the jab anyway
