Just a little wonder. Brooke is 14 months old now I am not worried just curious what is the avaerage for first season ? My first fcr was about 10months old Brooke hasnt had any . Except for two curly coasts last weekend has been of no interest to the boys so not expecting anything just yet
the other thing that interested me is if a bitch did not come into season at all is it something to woryy about from a health perspective NOT a breeding perspective 'cos we arnt going down that route lol

My FCR is in the last couple of days of her season & she was 8 months old on Tuesday!    I have never had a bitch in so young.    Her breeder has another bitch who had her first season in February this year aged 22 months old.  It's a 'how long is a piece of string' question, they all vary.

Knowing how the mothers and other female family members seasons are often helps.

I am so happy that my youngest two girls seem to nto be following some of their ancestors with over frequent seasons in their youth (4 - 5 month intervals) and seem to be at least 6 months apart (even 7 - 8 months) and 8 - 10 months old with their first.

I agree with Brainless.

I had a friend who's bitch only cam in every 12/14 months and the bitches daughter was exaclty the same.

If you think of humans some 'come in' v young and other much later. lol

Hi,

It varies wildly in flatcoats but most I have had and come across have a first season after 12 months of age and 14 months is quite normal. My current bitch was one of twelve pups, she has come in season about 1 to 2 months after her mother and sister every time so far. Her first season was just over 14 months and she has just today started her second season at 22 months.
