Who else looks forward to taking the dog(s) out in the rain?

I love it as there isn't the kids running all over the place and much less chance of meeting an irresponsible dog owner. Allthough Buster is friednly with kids, they all tend to run at him, excited, screaming his name when they spot him, so, despite him behvaing, I like to play it safe and keep him on  a short lead.
We won't be needing to do that today as it is POURING down here.
Ahh, a lovely, wet, peacefull dog walk :)

Unless we meet Busters rottie chum and I do worry about my ability to stay on my feet on the sopping we grass!

Also, the rain seems to do something wonderfull to Busters coat, he gets so soft, silky & shiny after being rained on :)

I love walking my dogs in the rain - we are usually the only ones to venture out on the hills during a downpour and very rarely meet anyone else if the weather isn't good. Although I am getting fed up with all this "drought" falling from the sky it does have some good points :-)

I actually dislike dog walks on sunny days, a nice grey drizzly day and I can be sure of a peaceful walk, as soon as the sunshine appears I'm skulking through the forest trying to avoid countless dogs ( countless in my books amounts to 3 or 4 lol ) .
We had a fantastic walk last week on the hills, was very heavy mist which made everything look like a scene from Hound of the Baskervilles, and not another soul in sight.

Luck you. Our two hate the rain, even first thing I have to push & cajole them out the door for a wee.

If it continues to rain they pretend to sleep all day. A shame as I like walking in it (not every day) and your right when they do get wet their coats are better than 20 minutes of hard work washing them in the bath.

I have a dog walk planned - a bit of a trek involving a bus to get there - but not one I can do on a sunny day.

Main reason it is up in the Mendips around Rowberrow and Dolebury Warren which is prime adder country, so they will be out in force on sunny days.

If anyone remembers the lovely books by Doreen Tovey all about her Siamese cats, she lived in Rowberrow... I think beside a track along this walk, and I believe more than one of her cats had adder bites over the years.

Oh yes,I read her books,I loved them,do you remember derek tangyes books?Iloved them, too! Re rainy walks, its hard to get the place to yourself round here in any weather, its slightly more peaceful in the rain though!Im out no later than 5.30 every morning, and do various walks of an hour or more, but its amazing how many others have the same idea!

Not a problem for me. We have a fair weather dog :-)

:)

I do have to shove Buster out the door for a wee in the garden when it's raining and when he walks accross the lawn he looks a bit like a Thunderbird puppet under poor control as he's trying his hardest to stop his feet touching the yucky wet grass, but he doesn't care about it when he's going for a walk, funny urchin :)

Isn't that funny...Daisy is the very same, she'd rather hold everything in than go in the garden when it's wet, but doesn't seem to notice the rain on a walk.

Oh I have a boy that is unable to pee in the garden when raining we have to take him out the front on a lead to find a spot!!!  but he has no issues going out for a walk via the back garden - its just toileting thats the issue!  silly boy!

Love wet weather walks. Just me and the dogs and it seems no one else is on the planet.

My beagle won't go out in the garden in the rain either.  As a puppy (and occasionally in real bad weather now) She will just sit down and refuse to go any further.

I do love it though - I don't have much problem with other dogs, just people and picnics etc in the local park when the weather is better

I think in my case it's probably my own doing, as i used to go out with a big brolly when little Princess Daisy needed a wee when she was a puppy lol.
