Hi was wondering if anyone knows the rules...found out today that open show tomorrow has change of judge....my daughter has handled this judge's dog at Crufts but only in YKC handling....it is only me showing our dogs tomorrow, so can I still show under the judge? Don't want to cause any waves!

No rule against it but you have to decide yourself whether ethical or not.

THere's no reason why you can't and especially as it's your daughter who has handled their dogs and not you.

This can be a tricky one & every case is different, it depends on how friendly you are with the new judge yourself. There is no rule against it. At first glance I cant see the harm in it myself, unless this judge is one of your best friends.
I recently showed my old boy under a judge who had bred my other 3 dogs, so a friend of mine. I had a good talk with her long before the show and we thought it would be fine, especially as she hadn't seen my boy in nearly 2 years.(He came 2nd btw) I feel that at an open show the judges are looking for actual dogs to go over so that they can 'move up the ladder'. I would have been happy to be place last with my boy, if that is where she thought he should be, and I know she would have placed him there if she thought he did too ;-) However, another friend is judging at a champ show later this year, and as we have travelled to shows together over the last few years I wouldn't think it right to enter under her.
Thanks for replies, no the judge isn't one of my best friends, we know her, as bought our Maine Coon cats from her. I have asked show sec, she said it shouldn't be a problem, especially as it is an emergency judge, and we had already entered.
