Hello I came here with my question as their is no better place to find sensable people who i know will have some great ideas for me,, so here goes,,

I have a friend in the US who Nanny is going to be 93 years old this month and is in a care home,,

I am of course sending a card but would love to also send something from here in the UK that she might well not see over their,,something nice if you know what i mean,,

Any ideas i would be most grateful thanks, xx

did she used to live in England? my sister lives in the U.S and the things she misses is our "ethnic" food ie marmite and ribena apparently they all drink cranberry and she can't get blackcurrant. Also their chocolate and sweets are very different (and apparently inferior!) even if she is American a little food parcel of new things for her and her buds to share could be fun!

My Aunt used to take over suitcases filled with Cadbury's Chocolate bars when she visited :-D  Apparently American 'candy' is no substitute ;)

My sister used to get American Chocolate Boxes from her Chicago boyfriend - they were nothing like we have here at all - certainly nothing like a decent box of chocolates from the UK ;)

So Chocolates might be a good choice :)

i think i'll go with alittle food parcel,, they dont have restrictions on what you can send over do they?? like OZ i mean,,
and no she had never been to the UK before,

Anything else i could ad that would be nice,,

English tea!

The Americans tend to drink herbal and the ones the sell which are supposed to be English breakfast blend just aren't the same.

You could buy her one of those little tea pots with a cup underneath, some tea bags and a nice box of shortbread biscuits and she'll be  soon be transported back to good old blighty!
