I paid £254 today for a small terrier spay, includes consult and meds. Is this average UK costs ?

Lord it is getting pricey, my last one was spayed along with her C section in 2010, makes it sound really cheap as it was £550 for both, but it was during normal surgery hours, my girl got into trouble after delivering first pup.

I paid £400 for a keyhole spay recently. The conventional spay is at least half the cost in our area.

I paid about £130 for a Papillon spay in September -she's quite big, 4 kgs. But my vets are cheap and I get a 10 % discount.

I'm taking a Chihuahua in tomorrow for a spay, and I am expecting to pay around £184 so I am interested to see if it's gone up much from my girl last year. Because I spend so much at the vets, he doesn't charge me a consult when I take a bitch in for a check over prior to a spay. I would normally pay around £37 for a consult.

Thanks all :)
We are expensive generally, but that sounds as if it was fairly average, as overheads are high in these parts!
She is only 6 kgs, so I supoose it gets more for the bigger ones, I cant remember it was so long ago with my lab.

There is a difference in price depending on weight, I found this out as my breed just goes into the next range...not by much but enough!!
Hi I live in Dorset and have just paid £199 for my Gsd to be spayed, and with pain killers.

It is costed on how much anaesthetic is required, and, naturally worked out on weight, so yes - more for the bigger ones! :-)
