hand strip your dog did you make a pigs ear of it , and did you get better over time , or did you give up and take to the groomers, we are getting a schnauzer and it will be my first time hand stripping and rolling the coat each week etc, just worried i do it wrong do not want to let the breeder down when i do eventually have to do it , need to get the puppy first, worried about cutting to much off the legs, and typing this just reminded me need to find a book on grooming the schnauzer off to look at amazon now

Breed Clubs sometimes run grooming seminars.

When I trained to be a groomer, many years ago now, the two breeds I found the easiest to learn, and therefore the most fun to do, was Schnauzers (all sizes) and Wire Dachshunds (ditto). Both handstripped of course! :)

Haven't had a handstripped schnauzer yet, I learned on Borders, and found them very easy. I've done Westies and Norfolks too. If you're showing the puppy, I'm sure your breeder will give you lots of help learning the presentation. Be careful if you go to a groomer to make sure they know you want it handstripped. Ditto if you get books or DVDs, there is a lot of difference between pet and show trims.
