Does anyone know if there's a page on the KC site where you can check how many registered offspring a dog (or bitch) has produced? The KC direct me to the Mate Select section but I can't find anything there ( :-o ) but admit I find the site very confusing!

If you go to the Mate Select and put in the registered name or number of a said dog/bitch it will come up with his/her health test results, if you then click "compare to progeny" you will get the results of the progeny and at the top it says eg. "123 puppies from 12 litters have been registered with this dog as the sire".

I've tried that; I put in a known sire, clicked on 'Compare to Progeny' and there are no results for progeny and nothing about about number of puppies or litters. Can I PM you the link to the page to show you?

The flaw is it will only show you the number of offspring if at least one has been health tested.

My Inka comes up because her offspring are Hereditary clear for prcd-PRA, even though the pups are only just getting old enough to Hip Score.

Have just PM'd you and as Brainless says I think it's because the Sire has no recorded health tests.

As said one of his pups will need to have been health tested

Then it's not much use really, is it? There are several tests that the KC doesn't record (BAER for instance), so the health test checker is limited; it'd be much more useful if they showed the total number of progeny registered, to help avoid 'popular sire syndrome'.

I agree with you they should have these details available for every 1 to see if they are health tested or not

I beleive they are going to develop that facility shortly, not sure where i heard it though.

I hope they do, because in breeds where, in the KC's words, "none of the available Kennel Club testing schemes are relevant" the information on record and in the public domain is unaccessible.
