I just applied for a new kennel name.
Does anyone know how long it'll take KC to grant prior to going in the Gazette?

It will get published in the gazette, so any objections can be lodged from someone whom may have a similar affix. These have to be within 4 weeks from the publication.
edited to say...sorry misread the question opps but you know you will have to wait at least 4 weeks...
They grant it first where you can register against it if you need to and then it's in the publication where you can receive objections.
Just wondered how long I would have to wait before they grant it.
The waiting gets to me, I'm very impatient and want to know now!!
It took about 3 days for mine. If you use the Kennel Club name checker, it'll show up as unavailable if it's granted.
Thanks Kayenine,
I just checked and they are all still ok to use so not granted yet....unless they're all refused!
Does anyone know the methods the KC use to check outside of the KC database? I recall something about them also checking towns, names and companies?
> Trying to remeber what they told me: they check Companies House
Oh piddle.
That's me scuppered then as there is, apparently a Consultancy (of what, I don't know) in the Midlands using the name I have been nursing for the last few years :(

hahaha I was inclined to more robust language, especially since I'd been told at the beginning of the week (over the phone) that my first choice was fine. I then had an email on a Friday afternoon telling me it couldn't be used and consequently burned up a weekend racking my brain for alternatives and cursing the KC for not being open on weekends :-).

>"....I applied in March and this will go into the June Gazette
Sounds about right to me. I applied (years ago) in April one year and it went in the July issue. Hasn't changed much then.
> hahaha I was inclined to more robust language
LOL yes, but in private of course :) the annoying thing is that this consultancy didn't come up on Google even 6 months ago. And the word is historically connected to the area my family have lived in for the last 30+ years... It would be gutting to have had it poached by a company based so far away with no connection to it at all.
You can check companies house yourself on the Internet and its free.
Also remember it has to be limited to be on there, so if they're not limited you would still be ok as far as the consultancy goes.
Well.....I just called the KC to see if they can tell me how far my application has gone through the system and was told they couldn't help at all.
Apparently the registration team work through the emails on a date system and I couldn't be put me through to them, I was advised it shouldn't be too long now and to keep checking my emails!
Poor customer service and a complete waste of time!

Chatsworth, I think it pretty much depends who you get to speak to. I spoke to a lovely woman the first time who said she would try to speed up the process (mainly because our club yearbook deadline was imminent and I didn't fancy taking a page on a "watch this space" basis. I had an email from them three days later saying I couldn't register my first or second choice (I'd only given two). When I spoke to the department again I got someone who wasn't prepared to give any information away, which was frustrating--of course I missed the deadline, and although I gave 4 choices in my second email they only checked the first name on the list. I felt it was put up or shut up time so left it at that.
I guess I shouldn't have tried to jump the queue.
I'll just keep checking my emails every 10 mins!

Hope you get your first choice :-)
If you haven't heard anything in a week I would definitely give them another ring, though--don't feel bad about that. You're paying a good whack of money for your kennel name and you should get a clear answer as to progress in that time. Hope you get the nice woman next time!
I've been checking daily to see if my suggestions are still available and today the last one says it's an active kennel name!
Do you think I've got it? But then I suppose it could be granted to someone else :(
Cripes I hate this waiting!

Give them a ring tomorrow. Where do you check the names--might do the same myself!
If you go to online services top left in the home page then go to dog name check, put in the breed of dog, when the next page comes up input a known kennel name in the top field and the name you want to check in the bottom field.

I reckon you've got it. What are the chances of someone else applying for the exact same affix in the last few days?
