As i have to keep my girl in for 3 more weeks i want to do some extra training with to work her brain but i cant think of things to teach her. She allready knows stand, sit, lay down, paw, roll over, spin, turn and bow. Ive been looking online but cant realy seem to find anyting with step by step instructions, i might see if the libery at work has any training books and get one out. But can anyone here suggest any tricks to teach her. I use treats and a clicker when training if that helps.

Speak on command..................Zuma picked it up quite fast, I broke pieces off his carrot treat but didn't give it till he made a noise..........started off as just a very quiet wimper and then gradually just waited for a louder noise till we got a proper bark :-) ........................I DID have to change the word to 'talk' as every time I started to say s for speak he anticipated and sat :-)
Also 'find' for treats toys etc???

I dont think i could teach her to speak as she never barks, our neigbour once asked us if we had gotten rid of her as they never hear her lol

Walking backwards, Daisy's so good at this she can manoeuvre herself round furniture whilst walking backwards.

I did it by having a treat in my hand whilst standing very close in front of Daisy, i was so close she had to take a step back to keep the treat in view, click treat !, once she'd done a few steps backwards she cottoned on and there was no stopping her, it's now her default behaviour.

I was going to suggest door shutting, which is walk backwards and close door with bum, very useful talent as long as they do not learn open door at the same time.

Oh! wipe feet is useful as well.

You could teach nose and paw targeting, once you have that down you can use it to do all sorts like closing draws and doors, turning lights on and off (if she's tall enough!), pushing a ball along.
My favourite thing I've ever taught my dog is 'pick it up' he will fetch me pretty much anything (within reason) that I point at and ask for, start off with teaching her to pick up a favourite toy and then make the items more difficult, like different shapes, textures and weights. It took him ages to learn to pick a book up tidy but it's worth it because people are always charmed when they see him fetch me something, it's also dead useful.
There is probably loads of vids on you tube on retrieving or holding objects which is all 'pick it up' is.
I like the sword  fighting vid of kikopups, you could start the foundations of that inside.

Look for 'tab289' on YouTube, brilliant step-by-step videos all with clickers involved. There's one video that shows 'tidy up' that would be really useful.

Other paw and spin both ways?

Search for named toys! Like that amazing sheepdog. Or just search and find exercises. Teach right and left commands, that is handy when you send away for a lost ball and they go the wrong way.
