I've been looking at the fully fitted options which wrap up the sides and wondered if anyone could offer some experience? A good rummage brings up
Hatchbag, and
Over The Top (wow pricey) but I've drawn a bit of a blank after that...
We're almost decided on changing our car for a Volvo XC90 so I want to get the tailgate covered as well to provide a non slip option. I expect I'm going to have to provide a mounting block or fireman's lift as it's very high off the ground but at least one of my dogs ought to manage it if he has a safe surface for entrance and exit.
Any thoughts please? Thanks

I've had 2 Hatchbag bootliners, I'm afraid I found the second one had a drop in quality.
The first one fitted really well, the second one ( for different car ) is not a good fit and quite baggy, the velcro stickers you get were positioned on the liner so they would seal shut the wheel jack compartment. Also the velcro your given to stick to the inside of the boot were not great and most fell off, despite me using the cleaning product they suggested to clean any residue off the surface.
The whole thing looks untidy and bagged away from the boot so much, that Ben still managed to slobber all down the sides of the boot, I'm still trying to get the marks off.

I have a hatchbag in my Volvo V70, my dogs spend a great deal of time in the back of my car often sleeping in it. In the 18 months I have had it, it has deteriorated not at all, keeps the car pristine and I have two large (30/40kgs) working dogs in it.
Cannot recommend them highly enough.
I am just annoyed that I never had them for my previous cars.
Fantastic value for money.

One of my friends has a BootBuddy liner and she reckons its the best thing she's ever bought. Cost £80 I think and they do lots of sizes to fit most makes of car.

I have a Boot Buddy as well. I can't fault it really. The boot underneath it is spotless and it's easy to get in and out, and clean (as we found out when my girl snaffled a load of cow poop in a matter of minutes and then reproduced it in the back of the car...lovely).
Would certainly recommend.

In a previous car I had a liner that used Velcro and I was disappointed so got a solid cargo liner but when I had a tailgate fitted it cracked so it was back to using OTT sheets but they didn't go up the sides. I'm still not convinced about the efficiency of Velcro as my OH has just got a liner for his car which fits well but the sides have come unstuck already with just one dog in there.
I'm really disappointed that Volvo don't do something.
I've got a fitted Rhino cover in my car and pleased with it. I had it made to have a split in the back seat so I can drop 60/40. Also have a piece that drops over the bumper where the tail gate guard opens
I had bought a cheaper Trixie cover to start with but it was pants due to the size of the wheel arches in my car.
Boot Buddy are excellent too, a few friends have them and have been happy with them

We have a hatchbag with the rubber matting base for the boot, its done the job we have had to add more velcro than provided as some of the side parts weren't secure enough. Had it about 1 year ish now, and it's withstood two slobbering dogues lounging around and jumping onto it :)
Thanks for the information everyone. Boot buddy is a little too rigid for me - I want the back wrapped so the dogs can use the wheels arches to rest their heads on. Oh blimey listen to me - I've turned into a right softie! :)
I may do a prowl at Welks this weekend. It's brilliant to be able to see an array of dog cars - but it's a bit difficult not to look shifty at the same time. If you see a woman with a Wirehaired Vizsla peering into your car it will be me. I promise I'm not trying to steal anything...
Tohme do you have a pet mat with your hatch bag?

Yes I have the rubber mat for hygiene purposes and of course it, unlike fabric covers, does not smell nor require washing, just a wipe over.
Thanks for all the help. I have ordered a HatchBag with a rubber mat for my Volvo XC90 and will update this thread (for others who may be searching, or reading in the future) when it arrives. I've got plenty of spare velcro should it be needed - in fact I might attach some to my woof's bottoms, it'll stop them mimbling about in their new space :)
I had two dogs in the boot for WELKS on Sunday and a boot liner is definitely a good idea if we are going to have more of this 'orrible weather!!
I had from a friend a Hatchbag to fit my Zafira it works really well so that when I bought my mondeo I purchased (well OH did for my birthday ) one for that also oredered the bumper protector I can say that I am absolutely thrilled with it the fit is perfect My cage slides in easire and carpeting under is still clean after taking 4 goldens to beach and muddy forest walks
It's great to read some more feedback - thanks saintmarys x
