Is you MIL on Statins - they are often the cause of restless legs.

I'd also be grateful, I'm tired of walking round the house at night - it's the only way I get relief.

Oh lord, I feel sorry for you, I used to have awful bother with restless leg, it sound's quite innocent, unless you've suffered from it.
I started taking a B12 supplement ( from Healthspan ) and haven't suffered from it for a whole year.
in the short term, standing on a cold surface can give relief.

It can be caused by lack of iron so taking an iron supplement may help. I hate taking iron ( I have to take the liquid one and it is horrid) but I know when the RLS starts I need to up the iron intake!  I suffer too and no one would be leave the misery and discomfort it causes - I too have paced the floor at night trying to get some relief. It sounds so innocuous too! Dopamine is the other treatment

Liquid iron (sanatone) tastes much better if cold from the fridge.

My husband suffered from it whilst I was pregnant and he had acupuncture which helped.

When I worked at the hospital we would recommend Tonic Water (for the quinine).
It is only cheap so worth a try.

It is up to you if you throw a gin in !

I was anaemic and knew this was the cause but so if it got worse I would take iron supplements but my last HB was good although the ferritin levels were still low and have never been above the normal range.
I might try the B12 & see if it helps.
MIL pills begging with a P ????

I hate my legs at night or anytime I sit down for a couple of hours they start, I just can't stop moving them, feels like I've done a work out!

I went to my doc about this a couple of years ago and was told quinine is what is needed, tonic water is the easiest way to get it into you but they can give tablets if very severe.

RLS Restless Leg Syndrome is characterised as 'non cramping neuropathic sensations'.

I was prescribed Amitriptyline (a drug which is also used in much higher doses as an antidepressant) but found it made me groggy in the mornings despite the tiny doseage but I know someone else who finds it helpful.

i quite often get restless legs. I find doing a few stretches and lunges helps. You feel a bit silly doing your exercise in the middle of the night but it relieves the symptoms :-)

Urhh I have bouts of this. Its hard to describe to someone who's never had it. To me its like creeping sensations under the skin and an irresistable urge to move..with me its stretching, calves, toes. I have also had it in my arms too. Horrible. Thank goodness I don't have it too often.

I've got plenty of tonic water, just need to get used it without a large dollop of gin!
I normally take a couple of paracetamol before bed to try and help. I hate that feeling of not being able to keep still, despite really trying to resist. In the mornings it feels like I have done a work out!

Yes I've also been taking paracetamol but don't like taking them every night. So I've been drinking tonic this evening -  resisted the gin - imagine it'll be sometime before I hopefully stop fidgeting the night away, good luck to you & here's to a peacful night!

You can get a really nice natural tonic water called Fever Tree, it still has quinine in it but it tastes so much nicer than other brands, expensive though.
