We are off to WELKS later in the week, not showing but husband stewarding for 3 days, as I will be on my own for a large part of the day I have decided to take 2 of the dogs with me so we can explore the hills; I will also be househunting. As I want to watch my breed jdging and will not leave the dogs in the caravan I thought I would use the unentered dogs tent, in 14 years of dog ownership I have never used one. Sorry if this sounds a daft question but how secure are they? I will be taking mum and son along and obviously crates for them. Do they give you something that means only you can collect them and I take it you are responsible for their toileting visits.
I will not be leaving them for long, just watching the judging and then collecting.
Any feedback greatfully received.
Hi! I have used unentered dogs tent a few times, and would again! You sign the dogs in, and out, and they take your mobile number....we did get the option that the people in charge were willing to take them out for wee etc, but I just said I'd come back and do it myself. The dogs were on benches on benching chains, I felt quite safe leaving them there, as tent isn't that big that it can't be overseen by the people running it.
Thanks, that put's my mind at rest. I will only need to leave them as long as it takes the judge to whizz through our breed. I take it you can crate them?

Haven't used one for ages, but yes I had to sign them in and out. I seem to recall you were supposed to come and check on them every hour or so, as it was the other end of the showground from our benching and I spent a lot of time galloping across the ground!

Yes, you can crate them, there are benches in the tent for that purpose.
The lady who runs it is from A1 petline charity, i think
Thanks all, have made the decision to take just the one as from the weather forecast it looks horrid, she could do with a bit of one to one time, so I'm sure she'll enjoy being on our bed! the other 3 will be looked after at home.
Feel much better about the arrangements, having never used the facility before I didn't know what to expect.
I think the unentered dog tent at this show ground is in the car park, near the pedestrian entrance to the show...
Not that it makes a huge difference but it does mean there is a lot of foot traffic - although the dogs have always seemed quiet enough so perhaps they like to have something to listen to :)
Have a great weekend house hunting too, it's a lovely area

The unentered dog tent is in the brown car park and costs £5 per dog...a bargain! I'll be using it as my dog sitter son has decided he has a very important event to go to and won't be back till tomorrow night. I'll be crating my two as one of them is quite capable of strangling himself if left on the bench.
Thanks to all for the replies, as it was I didn't use the tent as my friend stayed on the caravan site with his so he got another one to watch :) It was so cold and muddy on the caravan site, we are glad to be home.

We used it on Sunday, but hardly anyone else did. I was going to write to the organisers to thank them and especially the charity who organised the crèche--they did a great job in appalling weather conditions. i just hope they continue to offer this service in the future.
