I'm weighing my pups but they have now outgrown the kitchen digital scales and the bathroom scales are not accurate enough. How do you weigh your puppies? I guess it's easy for small breeds though!

Next week when they are 6 weeks I need to be weighing them very accurately as I will be worming them individually according to weight.

I have a set of these - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mebby-Digital-Baby-Weighing-Scale-Child-Toddler-Infant-Bathroom-Scale-20kg-/120813729697?pt=UK_Home_Garden_BathroomAccessories_SM&hash=item1c210f37a1 - absolutely brilliant.  I looked for them well in advance of my litter so they were ready for use and at a sensible price.

Yes I have the same as above.

Will consider these in the future. Not cheap but a good investment.

That's more than I want to pay really given I'm not breeding again and they are towards the end of their time here. I'm thinking of weighing one of us then weighing us holding a puppy and subtracting us. If that makes sense. Just need to check that would be accurate enough.

Fishing scales with a bag are normally a relatively cheap and easy option.

My current kitchen scales go up to 5kg (1/4 ounce gradations or 1g) so fine until they are about 7 - 8 weeks, after that I use a cloth bag and fishing scales.

Like Lily Mc I use a fishing weight and bag - works for me

It certainly works.  If you get a chance you could weigh yourself on your vets scales too to double check your own bathroom scales are accurate.  When my dogs are still light enough to pick up I've weighed them in this way.  I've also cross checked them at the vets to ensure the weights are accurate enough to give correct worming dose etc.

Don't you normally worm them individually according to weight?.How have you wormed them up until now? Sorry if this comes over as a silly question but i am about to help my friend worm her puppies and want to do it right.

I assume that up to now they were small enough for the kitchen scales, many fo which only weigh to five pounds, it's why I got a set that goes to 5kg.

I have very reliable and accurate digital bathroom scales, and use exactly this method for working out the Drontal doses for my Collies.  :-)   One vet told me that it is probably more accurate than the vet scales.

In the end I have bought some digital bathroom scales and we weighed them by holding a pup. I'm not sure how accurate it was given that the scales measure BMI and fat and water composition though. So I've ordered a fishing weighing scale for next week when I will be worming to make sure it is 100% accurate.

To answer the question posted earlier, I have been using my kitchen digital scales until now which are extremely accurate but now the pups are too big for them. They have all grown considerably from week 4 to week 5!

Fishing scales and a bag here, works a treat.

I see what you mean, i told you it was a silly question. Fortunatly for me the kitchen scales are still enough but could be different when they are next wormed.
