My girl is currently 17 days for post mating after a long planned for litter. I've had the BOB for a long time and its well thumbed plus I have a fabulous breed specific mentor. I just wondered if there were any other recommended books especially on care during pregnancy and the newborns.

I have

"THE WHELPING AND REARING OF PUPPIES" A Complete and Practical Guide by Muriel P Lee.

A brilliant book which has a ring bound spine, very useful if you need to refer to it whilst the bitch is whelping :-D

I have most of the recommended books, and even have some that I wish I hadn't wasted my money on.

The best I ever bought was back in the 70's and have never found one to beat it.  Although feeding has leaped forward since those days, bitches still whelp like they always did!  :-)

Dog breeding for professionals is still available in the states if you search for it.  It has the best ever advice on delivering malpresentations that I have ever read.  And has saved lives definitely for me.

The technique of breeding better dogs by Dieter Fleig was one I really enjoyed from what I can remember, it was very informative. Sadly I lent it someone and never got it back! Must order a new one.

Just wanted to say that I bought the Muriel Lee ringbound book from Amazon and it arrived today. It is a bit american in some ways (and mentions ear cropping eek!) however the rest of it really compliments the Book of the Bitch well, so thank you for that recommendation.  Will also have a look at the Dieter Fleig one too (FAR too easy to purchase from amazon lol).  Thank you so much for your help, much appreciated.  I know that no book will beat real life experience, however Im one of those people that likes to read everything I can lay my hands on, as well as being informative, I find it really interesting.

Isn't it just, I had a little spending spree on there the other day :)
