Hi all, I know that there are some pedigree cat folk on the forum and I was wondering if you could give me some advise on behalf of a family member. She is looking into getting a British Shorthair, preferably a blue or a lilac (is it lilac? I can't recall what she said!). Does anyone know of any breeders here in Scotland that she might be able to get in touch with? Are their any reccommended breed club contacts?
Also does anyone have any words of wisdom about the breed that I can pass on to her?
PM ChristineW, she knows the breed and is in Scotland. :)
A blue is the dilute form of a black, a lilac the dilute of a chocolate, so different, genes different shades -blues being a lot more common than lilacs.
The British Shorthair Cat Club have a website. http://www.britishshorthaircatclub.co.uk/ From that you should be able to find a breeder in your area. Breeders will also nearly always know of other breeders who have kittens (same as with puppies I guess).
Selkirk Rex are lovely, built along the same lines as a Brit but with a little bit more mischief about them, they come in long and shorthairs. I find the Brits a tad to staid for me, Jack was more fun unneutered than he is now. All he wants to do is eat & sleep.
