My eldest GSD's eye has a round black spot on his coloured part of his eye. Its been there a few weeks,  my vet has been away but is due back this week so he will be checked by him as soon as he has an appointment. Does anyone know what it could be?  He is 10, he has A.F but is in good health at the moment, as far as I am aware, he has had no trauma to his eye, it just seemed to appear. His eye is not red or weepy, apart from the black spot it looks normal. He has been very fussy with his food lately and has lost a few lbs but this has happened before, a lot years ago when he was on complete, leaving his food then sitting by the fridge! Not sure if it's connected, he is quite a manipulative character, battle of wills sometimes so it's probably him being him. I think it's worth a blood test to check all is well so I don't worry about something that isn't there though.

Hi .. i would get it checked out promptly ...  a friend of mine had a black spot in her youngsters eye and it turned out to be a tumor ... she was referred to optivet in s/hampton where they initially lazered it but unfortunately didn't work so the dog was operated on to remove it .... all has turned out ok and the tumor was non malignant .... hope it turns out ok for your GSD

My friends old SBT has one on her eye, she's had it for about 4 years, I can't for the life of me remember what it was called, but her vet said it was harmless and wouldn't cause a problem unless it grew over the pupil and started to affect her vision.

All ok, just a brown spot, nothing to worry about. Big PHEW!!
